Our mission is to heal.

The Seany Foundation exists to improve the lives of children, teens and young adults affected by cancer through programs that bring hope and happiness to kids with cancer and their families.

Our Story

It all began with a kid with cancer.

Sean Lewis Robins was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma, a rare childhood cancer affecting soft tissue and bone, in 2003. Inspired by his own battle with the disease, he helped found The Seany Foundation to advocate for other children coping with cancer. Today, The Seany Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization led by the Robins family with support from our generous donors and volunteers to carry on Sean’s legacy.

Funding research on childhood cancer.

Early on, our priority was raising money for cutting-edge research. We partnered with UCSD to fund two Pediatric Cancer Research Fellows – one studied the complexities of solid tumors and the other examined stroke risk in children and adolescents with cancer. The goal was to understand how the disease affects children to find better treatments and possible cures.

Seeing the need for qualify of life programs.

Thanks to research, clinical trials and better treatments, the survival rate for children with cancer has jumped from 58% in the 1970s to 80% in recent years. Yet, the number of children diagnosed with the disease continues to rise.* To better serve the growing population of childhood cancer survivors in the world, we shifted our focus to initiatives that help families cope with the emotional strain of cancer.

Supporting life-saving clinical trials

Many successes in childhood cancer treatment are the results of clinical trials, and Sean took part in several of these studies. Currently, The Seany Foundation supports potentially life-saving clinical trials for pediatric cancer patients by funding a Clinical Research Associate at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego.

Our vision for the future.

Since cancer affects entire families, we are dedicated to promoting the long-term emotional health of patients, survivors and loved ones. Our programs bring hope and happiness to kids with cancer, as well as parents and siblings. It’s a cause we are proud to call our own and one we hope you’ll join us in.
